There is a new tradition for today’s modern bride. Call it “Trash the Dress”, “Fearless Bridal”, “Cherish the Dress” or “Rock the Frock” it all comes down to one thing and that’s having some gorgeous images taken back in your wedding dress! Let’s face it, the dress is without a doubt the most expensive dress you will ever buy and only wear once so why not show it off another day at some great locations that you probably didn’t have the time for on your big day! Well, I did just such a shoot for Deanna + Tomasz up in Winnipeg Beach.
Deanna + Tomasz were one of my June 2008 wedding couples….you may recognize them from some photos on my website. Deanna had wanted to do the session in the fall after the wedding, but as I had just had a baby and became a first-time Mom, I just couldn’t do it at that time. Being the wonderful client and sweetest person she is, she insisted on waiting until I was able to do the session for her. So, this past summer, at the end of August (2009), we finally got together to do the shoot! The weather was beautiful, the location was awesome, and the light was just right. Not to mention that Deanna was totally ready to trash her dress… While we didn’t really trash it too much, we had fun getting it wet and sandy. And I should note that the water was quite cool that day and the bottom was extremely rocky (tip: bring water shoes) so it hindered the shoot a little.
I’m a wee bit nervous posting these because this was my first ever Trash the Dress session. I am very happy with how they turned out though, so maybe it’s just the fact that I’m eager to show everyone the images! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! 🙂 Also, a special thanks goes out to Johanna from JC Makeup Artistry for doing another fabulous job for Deanna!
So….what are you going to do with your wedding gown after the big day? Store it lovingly in plastic and hang it in the back of your closet where it never again sees the light of day?
